Home Should Always Feel Like Home

Comfortable independent living looks different for each of us. It may include help with cooking and other daily tasks of living. It may mean having a system in place to address health issues consistently, so as to avoid hospital stays. It almost certainly includes some measure of companionship and emotional support. Making sure that we can stay in our homes—while ensuring they always feel like home—calls for a collaborative approach, grounded in the emotional well being of the entire household.

Over our decades providing in-home care, we’ve developed a proven caregiver matchmaking process. This collaborative process consistently connects the right caregiver to the right household, laying the foundations for a system of support you can count on:

  • Caregivers Personally Matched to what matters most to you and your household.
  • A collaborative Plan of Care developed with you, for you.
  • Elevated care as needed, delivered by experienced professionals.
  • Enjoy full physical and emotional support in your home.

“The main thing that stood out about Soteria is how thoughtful and concerned the care provider is and how much they truly want to see him get better. I love the notes she keeps and the updates we receive and our family loves the added touch. We have great communication and that is so important.”

Your Questions Answered (FAQ)

What makes Soteria different from other in-home care companies?

We provide care that revolves around you. These services are tailored to each client’s individual needs. Your personal Care Delivery Team will oversee and coordinate your care, and ensure the best possible caregiver match for your household. Your team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide service wherever it is needed.

Does Soteria only provide in-home care services to seniors?

No, because of Soteria’s extensive experience providing elevated care to those who have been injured or have chosen to age in place, we work with all adults aged 18 and up.

Where does Soteria provide care?

At present, we are most prominent in Genesee County, Lapeer County, North Oakland County, and Kalamazoo County, however, Soteria is expanding rapidly throughout the state of Michigan and we welcome the opportunity to work with you.

How does Soteria determine what my care needs are?

The Soteria Care Delivery and Clinical Services Teams make an in-home assessment, and then collaborate with you to create a Plan of Care that is centered around the client’s Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).

Is there a process that assigns me with specific caregivers?

Yes, we call this our “Caregiver Matchmaking Process.” The Soteria Care Delivery Team works hard to ensure that we match caregivers with clients and their households in order to foster continuity in physical, emotional, and social care.

How does Soteria ensure that its in-home caregivers maintain their skills?

Soteria provides caregivers with various training opportunities for continuing education. We actively seek relationships with local Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) and Home Health Aide (HHA) schools to stay up to date on standards.

I’m nervous about having a stranger come into my home. How do I know that I can trust my caregiver?

We leave nothing to chance, and make no assumptions. Prior to hiring a team member, Soteria performs in-person interviews, checks applicant references, performs third-party background checks, and interviews extensively for compatibility and relevant experience directly associated with the needs of our clients.

What happens if my aide gets sick? Is someone on call 24 hours a day?

We believe in safety nets and fallback plans. Soteria puts in place several caregivers for each client. If a caregiver becomes ill, another caregiver familiar with the client will step in. Should there be no one available that is familiar with the client’s case, Soteria has experienced 24-hour on-call caregivers that can fill the gap.

What is “Private Duty Care” and who pays for these related services?

“Private Duty Care” is in-home care that is delivered on a private-pay basis, which means clients (or their families) pay Soteria directly for these services. Because we tailor the Plan of Care on an individual basis, private duty home care services can be customized to meet the unique needs of each client. For questions concerning fees and other information, please call to speak with a Soteria Care Specialist.
